Really when you listen to glados when you go into the fire with the "Cake" you here her say that all apature science material can survive 400,000 c so don't worry about the portal divice.

actually, in portal 2 glados states that there are many companion cubes in the warehouse
that one was for another test subject

i haz no clu how a companion cube drop out of the ground in this chamber and i put it in the incinerater and i beat the game still with the cube i feel good about myself

You'll see that right after the companion cube you incinerated drops, a new one will replace it. That isn't your companion cube. YOU KILLED YOUR COMPANION CUBE. And after all it's done for you.
