Thanks for response. I am trying to determine which was the hardest if anyone else has done both treks. No prep for Inca Trail but this time I have only 3 weeks to do intensive training(usually 6 month prep)...at least there are horses for backup hahaha

I am leaving for the Druk Path trek March 23/08.You mention in this video it is similar to Peru. Did you do the Inca Trail??? I did that 2 yrs ago and would like to know how similar this is to that trek re intensity and fitness level and if there is more acclimatizing time??

The trail in this video is on the Druk Path trek from Paro to Thimphu. The trek I took in Peru was The Circuit of Alpamayo. All the passes we went over on the Druk Path trek were around 15,000 feet as were the passes on my Peru trek. One reason for saying the Bhutan trek reminded me of my Peru trek is because of the folliage (trees and bushes). I was surprised that the timber line was so high in Bhutan.

The animal in the Bhutan video is a typical small horse from that country. Other animals in the pack were mules. I think the new show on this little horse was put on incorrectly. He did continue to have trouble on the trek, but made it out of the mountains okay. He was not required to carry any baggage after this bad day for him. Thanks for concern.
