Leonard Cohen in an absolutely riveting February 12, 1993 performance on Canadian network (CBC) TV's "Friday Night with Ralph Benmurgui". Cohen performs with full band and chorus and receives a standing ovation at the end of the performance. wow!

  • Toujours excellent M. Léonard Cohen !

  • Toujours excellent M. Léonard Cohen !

  • @futurecatholic

He has the --vision--, just like Nostradamus! No other explanation.

  • This song is so powerful and prophetic. Love the lyrics: "dance whitey, dance!" LOL!

  • he omits "anal sex" from the song and it's a real bummer

  • Favorite song. I do prefer versions w/all black female back up vocalists. but this band nails this don't they? Drummers the s__t!

  • Leonard ¡¡FUCKING AMAZING!! Cohen.

  • @tanya4809 very prescient, indeed.

  • @standingwest absolutely... it struck me too how true his statements are.

  • @tanya4809 You're welcome. It's always struck me how much this song feels like the Book of Revelations...

  • @standingwest , thank you, it makes sense...

  • @tanya4809 Just a guess: The white racist capitalist regime revelling in its vision of power...

  • plz, does anybody knows what he meant by "white man dancing..."

is it some one particular? THNX

  • A gloomy warning of what's getting ready to come down

  • Leonard, you still do it for me with this one. you sooo deserve that standing ovation.

  • @Batman10166 you're so right, somoetimes I go through the day, and suddenly realise I haven't listened to him, andI feel so happy as I put his music on. And I cry because I love his work and want to see him again. My favourite at the minute is Closing Time. my partner and I drive along in the car singing the words with him. he makes me so happy.

  • Love you Leonard

  • @a1000kissesdeep If I recall correctly the house band on the first year of "Friday Night" had a fiddle player.

  • i love his voice its beautiful................

  • One of very very rare occasion that Leonard Cohen performs without his band - this is I guess the show's band (there's Leonard's violinist methinks), so that's why the performance has ups and down but it is amazing and energised!

  • I would love to ing back up myself.

  • This video is so fantastic and it's just one of so many. I have no words to describe what Leonard has added to my life since I found him. thank you Leonard forever. Batman I so agree with you.

  • awesome

  • @ZZombyWooff lol thats true
