Beethoven Romance Violin in a traditional style influenced by Jascha Heifetz. In performing this, I tried to blend - as much as I could - the romantic style of Heifetz and the early 20th century performers, with the actual Beethoven urtext (an exact copy of the original score). I used many of Beethoven's actual bowings performing this piece to try to recreate his intentions in the line of phrases.

  • Oh miss Fontanella, your ability for this kind of loving music amazes me! I am 13 years old, and I am in my fourth year of playing my violin. And I hope one day I will be as good as you or somewhat the same. And you are very beautiful. And bravo, I am in love with this particular music piece you chose to record. I hear it everyday while I am working on homework and such. It helps me concentrate and slowly relaxes me. Again, bravo for your talents<3

  • @LuviaGonzalez You are very sweet!! Congrats on 4 years playing, that takes dedication :). Keep practicing!

  • @Annfontanella: I have a quick question, I'm a beginning Violinist and I'm going to start work soon so I can save up for some Violin lessons. Well back to the question, I was wondering if you can give me some guidelines for what to look for in a Teacher to assess if they're a "good" Violin Teacher or not? P.S I would love some tips on playing without a Teacher so I don't develope any nasty technique, because it's going to be awhile. I hope this isn't too much to ask from you, thank you.

  • @nile012 , in terms of a teacher, find one that emphasizes good form. So important for when you are advancing. It is frustrating at first, but it is worth it. On your own, practice in front a mirror. Make sure you can support the violin without your hand and you aren't tensing your shoulders!

  • i don't wanna ruin the mood with chauvinistic comments and whatnot, but holy hell she's beautiful.

of course, she's also a fantastic musician. wonderful music!

  • @Skinnydrumma , LOL, thanks very much!

  • There's alot of talent today, it seems. And with youtubes, it is easy to hear it.

But this performance of the romance no. 2 is very special!

I feel that i personally have the best feeling in the g major one,

and i would be very interested how YOU do it. I got my inspiration of it from Yehudi Menuhin, but after many years, i feel i have it improved, and, coming from my own heart too.

It is very nice of you to be on youtubes and answer things!!

  • So much of Beethoven's music gives off the feeling of romance. But it is the artist's ability to capture this that set's the music apart. You do this very well. And while I am in love with the piano, your violin is so refreshing. Thank you.

  • Hello An with your beautiful violin journeys ! :) I have just started my lessons in the violin and I listen your melodies everyday !! so relaxing and so beautiful like you are !! :) regards from Greece !

  • Beautiful interpretation...this is the first time I've heard you play...and it was a VERY pleasant experience. Kudos for posting the musical notes for the benefit of the aspiring players and for those learning about classical music. Any plans to come to Shanghai in the near future? We have a wonderful orchestra here.

  • There is nothing which puts me higher in the clouds than a wonderfully played violin.

  • Hello Miss Ann Fontanella, your playing just ....... literally gave me feelings of romance and sadness then confusion you truly played gracefully. Your playing made want to burst into tears, beautiful.I love to watch this over and over again. Though I may not have as deep musical inclination as you I find you work intensely fascinating.Sincerely, a fellow cellist/violinist.

  • Dear Ann

I was wondering where I can download this beautifull piece of music, I would very much like to use it at my wedding in less than 2 weeks.

    Kind Regards

  • when i saw the video i thought "oh, it's only a pretty face who plays violin" i was so wrong. this expressivity is only acquired by the masters like you.

i've been playing piano for 11 years and hear this piece just make me realize that I have to practice much more

  • You are incredibly, incredibly talented. Truly inspiring and beautiful.

  • With the wonderfully romantic execution of this, the most tender of Beethoven's work, you could most certainly make any man fall in love!
