This is great info I tore my Meniscus and have decided to go ahead with the surgery without getting the mri done because the spealist I saw was 99% sure that i have a meniscus tear the only reason I'm going ahead without the mri is because there are very vew machines and long waiting lists in the province and I already have the joint locking up on me which is extreamly painful and dont want to wait a year before surgery so the speacialst can confirm what he's already sure of.
@Disposition446 It sounds like you tore your meniscus or your ACL. I tore my meniscus, and what you need to do is get the surgery. It's been 4 months and it won't heal on it's own. The meniscus and ACL doesn't need surgery.
@carrill026 You'll eventually have to go for a surgery to repair it, and chances are the tear might be so serious that the doctor have to trim it off, and it will never grow back. You can then decide for an implant of meniscus. So the earlier you have the surgery the better it is.
After an MRI I was told I had a badly torn cartilage. My Uk Dr referred me under a scheme called Choose and Book whereby the local NHS and GP pay for the Keyhole Arthroscopy. Brilliant, operation took 40 mins under a general anaesthetic. Bit sore for five days but walking again. Found excellent video on YouTube PersonaltrainerTai with 6 excellent videos which have helped no end. Good luck.
to anyone reading this, please dont play around if you feel like you have a torn meniscus. I've had 2 surgeries on my meniscus so far (i am only 17). I can tell you that i wasn't as careful as i should have been and now my knee will never be the same.
So in january i suffered a small tear in my meniscus and i didnt do any kind of physical activity cause my knee was swollen for 4 weeks the doctor told me not to do anything for 6 weeks but ididnt listen and so i was playing hockey and my knee just made a light crack noise and so i continued playing the next day my knee hurt a lil bit and so til today my knee just cracks and recovers when i do any sports but it never hurts bad but it cracks i stretch it out and it feels better
