Aretha did a great job especially since she was 51 years old here and wasnt in her prime. Mariah must have been so honored to hear one of her influences sing her own song. But of course Mariahs tone is untouchable.

@iheartwillandgrace ANd for the people who think this off beat, REALLY? Do you know who this is? Do you know that she meant to sing it this way ? Do you know that this is vocal prowess? Do you know how easy and safe it is to sing a popular song the original way? Aretha reinvented the song and honestly made me like a song I never cared for. Only the musically inclined understands this.

I could imagine how happy Mariah was to have the queen sing her song. Only Aretha Franklin could take someone's song and make the true meaning come out in such a touching way. I remember this night and how moving her performance was. Other artist who sing her songs do them little justice, but she takes other artist songs and makes them brand new! Only the Queen could do that.

Mariah did sing alive "(You make me feel like) A Natural Woman". Aretha din't wrote but it is a single from her career. This is a very difficult song to sing even for women with a great vocal trainning. Not every one can sing it. Why was Aretha succesful? She's never been beautiful... But she could sing and she's a great musician. I take singing classes and I have to learn 'Chain' and then I understood. To compare the two is like to compare a percussionist and a pianist. They can be both good.

Mariah and Aretha are just different styles. Mariah adores Aretha. In the first Divas, Mariah and Aretha sing together and Mariah seems so impressed and so afraid of not being good enough to be there while Celine Dion who is a much worst singer than Mariah thinks she's as good as Aretha. Aretha is very focused on the rythm. She rebuilds the song. She doesn't copy Mariah. She does something different bc that's what good musicians do. Not copy. They do it differently.

Therfore, I conclude that Aretha sung 2 of Mariah's song Hero and Touch my body.. lol.. Mariah sung 0 of aretha song.. "don' play that song for me" is not an aretha song.. she is not the writer and NOT the original singer.. lol

@anacionqtfixo i don't know but Aretha just Sounds sooooo Human to me. i mean a normal one.. singing in a normal voice.. MARIAH? she sounds angel to me.. a Goddess.. to be honest.. i swear to the mighty LORD.. i don't wanna LIE and Praise aretha just because she comes in the business first or she influence mariah.. that's a NO... i swear to the LORD.. my ear doesn't LIE.. MARIAH sounds vocally BETTER than aretha.. pls. read carefully..
