@Extreme1567 The pilot guides the aircraft in position using some special lights under the tanker. The refueling boom is operated by an operator in the tanker and guided in the right position.

I think air refulleing in general isnt that easy, BUT there a lights under the body of the tanker, to see if you are in the right position. So after all it doesnt make that much different if the boom is in front of you or behind you while tanking.
