"Jolly Old Saint Nicholas" and "Jingle Bells" in medley are played as set opener by Kingsport's Renaissance Strings at the historic Netherland Inn and Boatyard on 9 December 2009 for the three-day "Holiday At The Inn" event. This was performed in the ground floor "Tavern" area and lighting was not that great (1800 authentic). At the beginning we had a brief visit by the jolly old Elf himself dressed in period authentic costume.

The Renaissance Strings is an acoustic group from Kingsport (Tennessee) Senior Center which is located in a city facility named "The Renaissance Center". Instruments currently include mountain dulcimer, hammer dulcimer, fiddle, and guitar.

The historic Netherland Inn and Boatyard is a foundation-operated historical and cultural museum. From the late 1700s until the mid-1800 this location was the head of flatboat navigation on a river transportation system that conveyed salt (Saltville, Virginia), lumber (locally cut and made into flatboats) and iron products (Kingsport area forges) down the Holston, Tennessee, and Mississippi rivers as far south as New Orleans. Development of the railroads and other economic change eventually ended the flatboat era. The boat crews would walk back.
