Accident or Intellegent Design? Here we go; they start out with the classic Creationist false dichotomy. Marc Surtees would be proud.

"Oh noes!! The evil materialistic scientists are so arrogantly assuming that the Universe is limited to simplistic non-fantasies!"

The authors of Y-Origins seems to live in a world in which science has historically required Christianity to function.

This is one of the saddest arguments presented by Creationists because they are missing the magnificence that exists all around them. They believe that by looking at the their surroundings, imposing a supernatural origin (God, magic fairies, what have you,) and then being impressed by the imagined things supposed ability to create our existence makes their view somehow more enlightened then any non-biased investigation. The opposite is in fact true. Everything I have ever learned about science has been more exciting and more inviting than any story has ever been, whether it be from the pages of a religious text or an episode of "Star Trek". Even something as seemingly sterile as Calculus has provided me glimpses into a universe far more incredible than I could ever imagine.

Creationists wave their hands at all of that and instead pretend that the collimated efforts of millions of people over thousands of years is itself, a vague and unsubstantiated fable they call, Evolutionism, or in the case of Y-Origins, Materialism.

This argument is what began the downfall of VenomFangX. His arrogant assumptions that the existing scientific theories were so simple that an uneducated prick like him could challenge their validitys is part of what motivated him to invite Thunderf00t to a debate.

*Note: I know that I generalized the wide verity of religious beliefs, I needed to do that for brevity.

*Error1: The Y-Origins article stated that our Universe is 95% dark matter AND dark energy. I mistakenly thought that they had just said that 95% of our universe is dark matter.

I doubt the majority of Christians even know what a scientific Journal is and how it is different from any other book. As a Christian I sure didn't. I thought I could use high school biology and chemistry to debunk evil science.

"Human life is the result of a glorious evolutionary accident" That quote seems to originate from Y-origins itself, every other site (all creationist sites) I found that quote seem to have just copied it from Y-origins. You have to hand it to them, they know there audience, only a creationist wouldn't have any problem with just making up a quote, they know there audience isn't going to look for the scource....

I will admit now that string theory makes my head hurt. So I can see why not everyone will be fluent with its workings.

But dismissing it, or indeed any other idea, simply because they don't understand it is insane.

Not only that...But its not helping the human race by replacing scientific knowledge with 'God' just because its easier.

why do they care so much about disproving evolution I believe in god and evolution and quantum physics if god created the universe it would take a long time for us to comprehend how he structured the nature of reality to operate and nobody knows everything so therefore we look at evidence and determine things by testing and measuring them like normal people

Any scientist knows that cannot prove a negative - therefore scientist would never try to prove the non-existence of a God.

But maybe a challenge for non-shintoist: Prove that the Tenno is not a God!

There are tons of documents in japanese history on his godliness and millions of people believe/d it. So - disprove that.

@JRChadwick He is referring to Torcaso v. Watkins. But it is actually a big fail on his part, seeing as how since it was stated in what is called "Obiter Dictum," Such statements are personal opinions of the judge they have NO legal force. Ignoring this uncomfortable fact, allows the religious right to argue that any hint of Secular Humanism in schools is a violation of separation of church and state - an ironic argument, since they would be happy to dispense with that separation themselves eh?

@danephillips I love how you feel you can judge my reasons for what I believe. That's quite a power to see into someone's mind, to know what I know and experience what I've experienced. Plus I did accept jesus, many times over and followed the bible unquestioningly and ended up feeling hollow empty and alone no matter how much I begged him to make me feel something. I was plunged into serious depression because I knew everyone around me was going to hell and were good people I could not save.

You think that god made the world for you, I know I'm just a tiny speck in a giant universe uncared for except by the people around me. /watch?v=UoV9_P3oiJk I was a very strong young earth creationist but the more I studied the more problems I ran into. There was just no evidence. You also show no understanding of what evolutionary theory actually says and why it has been proven over an over again.
