Using Blocks in Reason 5 and Record 1.5 to create a splicing effect by overlapping block regions.

Synth riff is from Subculture by New Order.

  • it sounds like you have orphaned tracks nesting in the comp editor. Go to the track list and select all tracks. In the edit menu, select "Delete Unused Recordings". Then save the file with a new name.

  • Didn't know you were a New Order fan Peff??? :-)

  • @tonalaxis - i listened to just about everything that used synths in the 80s. i always liked this bach-like riff.

  • it's cool peff it's remember me a kind of YMO or french electro Kitch pop from the 80's ^^ i can wait to order my reason 5 update for trying the live sampling stuff, it's realy refreshing, it's like re using my old hardware sampler.

  • @Meteotrance - my cd collection contains both some YMO and some 80s french disco. The live sampling feature and audio input in Reason 5 has some amazing uses. I've got some stuff in the works :)

  • Man where have you been Peff. Iv'e been craving some of your crazy videos. Cool concept for the blocks.

  • @jlee713 - i've been busy. Blocks are definitely a cool feature of Reason 5/Record 1.5. Overlapping different block sections is a cool way to cut things up very quickly. You can even throw in an empty block to add a drop out for a beat. Blocks work like Reason clips, so it should be easy to figure out how to use them.

  • can i ask an off topic question please peff. I'm working on a project at the moment, which contains much less audio data than other stuff I've worked on yet when I 'saved as', the record file is 6.5G (yep, 6.5GIG!!!!) - it's not even finished yet, in fact only like 8 ars and other 6 or 7 min tracks I've done are only like 105Meg in total. It's really getting my brain twisted....Any ideas??????? the audio comes from a wav I extracted from a movie, but even the orig movie is only 816Meg??!!

  • i was gonna drop a shit comment but it sounds good lol

  • Now all we need are the Pet Shop Boys singing the lyrics.

  • Peff did you know a good software for capture screen video on pc like Camtasia ?

it could be usefull for me, for posting my music exemple and also start french tutorial about reason and record.

those soft are wonderfull but there's not so many good tutorial for native french speaker.

  • I hope there will be some patches for Simmons style drums in the new release. Love these drums in 80's style Reggae. Sly Dunbar did some great drumming with those things.

  • It didn't occur to me to use them like that, again Reason more depth than the sum of it's parts.
