Google executive Eric Schmidt discusses the future of technology as part of a a three-day conference in honor of the centennial of the birth of Alan Turing, the father of computer science.

Featured speakers at the conference, in addition to Schmidt, include eight winners of the Turing Award (the equivalent of a Nobel Prize in the field of computer science).

Schmidt is introduced by Robert Sedgewick,the William O. Baker '39 Professor in Computer Science, Princeton. Both Schmidt and Turing are Princeton alumni.

    That is really funny about the possibility of computers predicting an economics collapse.

    Now we have the planned obsolescence of computer software. Where have computers calculated the depreciation of all of the cars for the last 50 years.

    He talks about technology and economics but when does anyone mention making accounting mandatory in our schools? Double-entry accounting is 700 years old, shouldn't EVERYBODY be able to do it on their computers?

    Compute the depreciation on all of these computers.
