Between the first and second gears theres a cam. This little device handle shifting procedures. Find the right screw in your instruction manual (smaller one) and adjust the shift cam spring feder till you shift fine.
Im pretty sure you lost that screw, or it is simply too far from the feder. Good luck !

thanx, but, i changed the gears before i tried it, brand new gears. only ran it to see if everything was working, but it wouldnt shift. haven't used it since.
