One of the most profound and moving folk-songs ever written.
-
....Dylan inspired Springsteen.
Springsteen would say Dylan.

why "or", why not "and"?

I prefer the solo Bruce with little more than an acoustic guitar. In my opinion (and I know i'll get A LOT of grief over this, but whatever) the E Street band overdoes it....that's exactly why i don't like U2....i'm a simple man, bruce portrays himself to be a simple man, and i believe simple=stripped-down sound. the boss must agree with this principal if he chooses to go there so often.

It was my own fault, but I've been homeless and broke. What breaks my heart is what I saw happpening to the children. Nothing compares to the misery of a homeless family.

I just saw Bruce in concert and he did an electric version of the song. He owned.

The who better, Dylan or Springsteen, arguments are silly and pointless. No one will *ever* contribute more or more than Dylan, who, along with the Beatles, showed that rock n' roll can be serious adult art. Without Dylan, there is no Springsteen. Dylan's first album was over 45 years ago. On the other hand, over the last 35 years, Springsteen has written songs, and performed at a less of excellence that is unsurpassed by anyone. Many believe him to be Rock's greatest live performer ever.

grouder:
If you knew your idol so well, why don't you read his speech for Dylan for his entrance to the "Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame":
"Like Elvis freed your body, Bob freed your mind..."
That should answer your question.
