Its not as sensitive, as they say, but it may go off much easier,than this, if you have bad luck. Its tricky.

AP doesn't seem as sensitive as everyone says it is it took a couple shots with a hammer you would have to throw it as hard as you could to make it go off

fill a film canister half way with AP, add a couple of small rocks, then just throw it really high and get behind a blast shield ;D

if it's made very well with no impurities and a cool temp during the synthesis, it's not that sensitive...though, if you let it sit, the crystals will 'evaporate' a little and reform with bigger crystals. when that happens, it's much more sensitive.

Your talking about impurities, yes, impurities can have a big effect on the explosive stability. All Primaries that i have worked with failed to set off by a blow of a hammer, i am guessing because my stability is high, a friends explosive is still acidic, so it tends to go off easily with a hammer.

impure chemicals and bad synthesis is the key here. AP is sensitice but it can be a lot worse when done wrong

It is true that at first it isn't sensitive, but AP is known to be an unpredictable explosive, many had accidents with it, that is why it was nicknamed mother of satan. They say it may not go off at first, but later it is the devil.

no he missed hitting the charge. droping the hammer without force will make it go off.
