check it out bro. it looks like we aren't using our techniques, because the capoeira shown to the public is all fancy lace-covered stuff. pretty much every kickboxing move is in capoeira. for example, roundhouse = martelo, side kick = chapa, knee strikes = joelhada, punches = asfixiante, backfists = godeme, elbow strikes = cutevelada.

and i totally see where you're coming from, but i promise you that i'm not lying to protect capoeira's name. it can work, but with only with a good

  • dont think so man, capoeira is great, but alone it lacks some things like grapling and defense, i do capoeira and i love it but i think that mixed with jjt and muay thai it is an excellent way to train because it gives you agility, strength, quickness and tecnic. that capo guy, as you say, used jjt too when he was down.

  • Yeah, he shouldn't have even gone for the round kick after the meia lua. The opponent just took the hit and came to the clinch.

    Hella slick armbar though

  • I seen only two kicks that look like capoeira.I wonder if someone out their is skilled enough to use ginga in a real fight

  • tul

  • He wasn't unbalanced by his meia lua, he kicked a martelo after it but the other guy got his leg and sent him to the ground. He didn't do a role, becouse rather he did a martelo. In a fight there are a million ways can be chosed in the situations. And if he goes close to the ground by a role, then the other guy maybe could step on him. Role is rather for rodas I think, but Gatuno once used it very well in an MMA fight.I also saw a finta-meia lua well executed in an MMA fight.

  • capoeira não é só ginga , existem centenas de capoeristas no brazil que é pareo duro para qualquer luta .

  • He still could've went into role, it would've been more natural from his balance perspective. Lets say he did go down, you can still move around when your on all fours face up. Whats the most the other guy can do? Jump down on you? You just move around right? Kick you from the side? Negativa?

  • train some regional and you will see the difference. on top of that, if you look closely he doesn't have enough time: if he went into a role he would have been vulnerable. This isnt a roda.

  • Wfat you call judo technique is not only found in Ju-Do. Throws and takedowns are ancient moves in Capoeira.
