This is piece is traditionally a percussion showoff work. Accents would normally coincide with gestures of dancers. Rendition of percussion would depend on version of dance.

Well said

Se nota que los integrantes son virtuosos, pero los percusionistas son un desastre, le quitan toda la belleza a la interpretación, impresionan como desafinados o fuera de contexto

@rosten736 You might not like it, but that is actually how the composer intended it to be played.

I actually don't mind the percussionist.

Percussions are making some popcorns in the timpani

Why is the percussionist doing that? In a national orchestra?

Great song but the percussionist really ruins it in this performance.

I think one could safely trust world-renowned conductor, Vladimir Spivakov to present a work to its greatest and most exciting advantage. Obviously the percussionist was given some artistic liberty in this interpretation. I was there -- it was fresh and utterly electrifying!

in fact this is the way to play it. i have played with conductor Amayak Durgaryan (famous armenian conductor who was Khachaturian's friend) and he insists to play that way (it's a traditional dance with knives).
