This video is so wonderful. I see a lot of strange comments on here. This was definately not common at the time, except in certain appalachian cultures. There are still remnants of this today, my family being one. The only reason I can relate to this experience is because my family is proud of their culture, yet adaptive to the times we live in. The worst thing about modern society is the negativity and the idea that progression eliminates tradition, instead of changing it.

@massimo38 Yeah. Well if you want to get into religion, which I don't really, all of the Abrahamic religions have Judaism at their roots. You see the fairy tales and legends float back and forth between them.

But what I was trying to say was the reason the Family has all but disappeared in the US is because of a fundamental loss of cultural and racial identity. If you couple that with the blurring of the sexes, you don't have "family" anymore.
