@EFISHANT He addresses this in many works: 1: Christianity is either true or false. Whether it makes you a better person or not is irrelevant. First decide this issue. 2: If you decide it's true, then we can probably agree that if you're working with the truth, you will probably have a better outcome than if you're working with half the truth. Not always, but it's likely you will. 3: Some people who never heard of Jesus will be better people than an ill-tempered Christian. That's life.

@baldrad1 It's still on Huffington: "Glenn Beck has written a thriller, 'The Overton Window.' ... Needless to say, it's just as crazy and ridiculous as you'd expected it to be. ... With lines like "The dog returns to his vomit" and "The burnt fool's bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the fire," it's very clear what this book is about. Nothing." Later they updated saying they KNEW the poem was Kipling's "The Gods of the Copybook Headings". Yeah right, they knew all along. LOL

@burryp ....so it comes down to State Worship for you. Morals and ethics are all relative; one only has to "get along" with community standards to have a nice life.
So, would you have enjoyed Mao's China, or Stalin's Russia, or Pol Pot's Cambodia? They had their community standards; all you had to do to get along (have a nice life) was obey the "law". They shared your sentiments toward a belief in God.

@EFISHANT .....uhhhhhhh, what was it that Lewis wrote about Arabs? Musta missed that.......
-
@xpandergt ......O told Tweety Matthews what he reads, and Tweety's leg shivered and he went into a swoon.......
-
@xpandergt .....Jack Niclaus' illigitemate son...that's why Tweety Matthews is so bitter at the Country Club set......
-
@ExceptionalXBT ....and your Pied Pipers at MSNPC and the White House are nothing but Intellectual POSERS........LOL.
-
@MrLukasart ....Methinks you dost protest too much.
And, Atheists are largely just a bit lazy, in terms of intellectual inquiry. That could include you, but I have no way of knowing. You be the judge.
-
@EFISHANT Then why does he want to violate the Constitution so much?
-
@armonocracy .....uhhhhhh.....how do the Chinese "control" our debt? They're holding a trillion plus. When I checked it on the counter an hour ago, it was 15 and a half trillion.
China NEEDS this country. Furthermore, their holdings of that "promises to pay" from Uncle does not exactly pur them in the driver's seat.
On the other hand, we DO need to discuss economic issues as PRIORITIES, I agree.
Just try to do that with an electorate with average attention span of 6 seconds.

@Ovedya2006 ....Wolffe really needs to return to writing gossip columns, or Interior Decorating (his major at Oxford).....
It's a waste of time to expect to have a Socratic discourse with a person of faith because the they can't separate proof and facts from feelings!
You can feel in your heart what ever you want but it doesn't hold any water in an academic analysis! Lewis made ridiculous assertions about Mans ability to be altruistic outside the realm of Christian faith and there is plenty of proof that he is wrong!
Asserting feelings of faith as a rebuttal is really childish!

@EFISHANT Lewis admitted he was not the "come to Jesus" type. He admired reason, and debated regularly with atheists. He said that reason alone will lead you to Christianity, as it did him. In my opinion his most powerful argument is this one: Google ["C.S. Lewis" "to hell with your"] exactly as written in the brackets, and you should see "Race Matters - Mere Christianity" in the results. Read the paragraph beginning "Now what interests me". Then let's talk more about conscience and God.
