EPAK Long form four kata by Amy Long. Sacramento, CA 2006. Nothing like watching yourself and seeing all the areas where there is room for improvement! Time to make a new clip. That was done in March 2006.

  • Some of the self defenses in this form are different, may be you would like to see Frank Trejo or Master Larry Tatum to see the mistakes you are making on your form. Remember these are self defenses and the form should be performed as you were defending yourself in real time, one more thing... economy of motion, don't over extend your arms to block and imagine the motions... you got the basics and but work on the self defenses... please eliminate those not necesary moves...

  • This was done about 3 years ago. I've worked on it since and I've seen Mr. Tatum's videos. I haven't seen Mr. Trejo do it though.

    Thanks for the feedback. :)

  • @amylongkenpo Don't get too excited about Larry Tatum. A man who poses that much during a form is way too in love with himself!

  • @jlschuster - This is true. He is known for his posing. Time to re-record the katas. :)

  • You know, after I did this form, I noticed that my instructor seemed to teach a few transitions differently. I asked him about it and he said, "I noticed it, but I thought what you did looked fine, so I didn't say anything." Thanks for the validation. I did it months ago and now I'm looking at it seeing all sort of little things that I need to correct. :)

  • @alexcolman1 I'm going to check Rick out, Alex, and thanks for the recommendation. I'm always impressed with Kenpo techniques, but I do see some practitioners put tremendous emphasis on speed but with minimal awareness of how to apply power. I look forward to learning of Rick's methods.

  • hi amy, u know whos videos ive watched alot, rick jeffcoats he focuses on power and speed i really like his forms check it out. and he has a good transition during his entire forms. hope it helps
