Metro Vancouver has a long way to go before it can call itself a livable region. Why are we further committing ourselves to car orientation? Building roads just adds to the problem we're trying to address, and just think of the transit service $3.9 billion could buy.

Driving, shopping, advertising, consumer culture, Hummers, sprawl, it's all here. Our addiction to the status quo is quickly working against our needs for community, complete infrastructure, and efficient ways of getting around. What in the hell are we doing?

  • Yeah, I know. I'm clearly not an audio technician, and the mic I was using was way too sensitive. Thanks for the feedback though.

  • An informative and insightful look at the biggest issue facing the Lower Mainland. Fantastic work.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • This is a great video. I used this for my Urban Geography essay and got an A on it. :D

  • Great video! Really well-done. Have you had any follow-up on this?

  • Great effort, some wonderfully candid insights were presented. The reality of induced traffic is especially problematic. How our elected officials choose to ignore the issues of the Gateway Project, I have no idea. I say ignore because they couldn't possibly be stupid enough not to understand them at all, could they? Don't answer that!

  • cool video but you blasted the old guys audio when you recorded it

  • There are a few solutions with using the current system.

    1) Meter traffic all on ramps on Highway 1, that can reduce congestion hours for a long time.

    2) Commuter rail to Delta and Langley could connect Vancouver by using a small commuter rail train

    3) Upgrade the rail infrastructure in order to prevent passenger rail delays

    4) Screw SFPR in the Burns Bog region

    5) Extend the merge ramps on Highway 1 first then widen. Current plans have no additional merge length
