Per your requests, see some examples of how to simply apply your VT/WC vs boxing. This is for practical application as it is not our sport to stand in the ring and trade punches. Boxers are warriors with great stamina and still that is a sport. Your interaction would be with someone who may have some boxing training or saw some on tv. No gloves, no trading punches. Your job is to finish the fight with appropriate force. A real boxer will not go down based on force. In this vid we show how to use VT to overcome his hands however in real life to avoid deadly force you'd probably disable his legs with a kick.
@MacFlanahan
Good point. MMA folks don't mind pounding each other forever. VT/WC guys prefer not to simply exchange blows. That's sport. VT is not. So, a gun without bullets is not as sweet but can be used. In my numerous and plentiful actual street fights I never killed or maimed anyone however... though it worked to stop and turn an attack I was lucky that deadly force was not needed. So, the nature of the beast is that it's not for sport.
Good point Mac.

@heartslord Eye gouges, throat attacks, and (usually) groin attacks.
These are illegal.
Most everything is legal.
Does Wing Chun suddenly suck if you can hit groin, throat, or eyes?

@DonMega187
Indeed. However, JKD does not understand the physics of the chi sau and therefore is related to WC only in that it kind of looks like it. Like a Sarah Palin impersonation. It's not SP, but it's funny! Like JKD. I trained Arnis, nothing like sparring (controlled) 2 machetes against 2 machetes! Sounds like your Sifu gave you a great balance.

I agree it's in the form however I see that as for training. For instance in the Hsing-I metal punch training both hands come all the way behind the body and swing to the front to chop but in application the chop happens with no windup in a short space with all the trained strength of the form behind it. IMO at the higher levels one almost never turns. The time to turn is to move the centerline toward a changing target. Thanks for the thoughtful comment.

MMA is serious shit. It's still a sport as noone dies. For those of us who don't take repeated punches it's run or finish it. Having been attacked many times on the street (when I worked late nights in a bad area) I'm clear on what works. None of us are invincible however the better the training the better our chances. WC is not in MMA because it's not a sport.

@knownpornographer well wc guy can easily tuck in the chin etc changes.
once it did evolve, by bruce lee and he's jeet kune do. after that there's been several others. i come from a school where we did wing chun for stand up, wrestling for ground, and escrima for weapons. but my sifu's system wasn't called jeet kune do, following the same footsteps in a way however i'd say. now what is mma but same ideology, some styles are preferred over others however, but basically none are excluded either

@heartslord first of all respect for uploading the video and wing chun seems strong indeed within you. but just so there's not any misunderstandings wing chun allows for rotation of hips for punches or for blocking purposes. shown in the 2nd form chum kiu. however to retain steady contact with equal hand pressure (for chi sao for example) is impossible if practitioner is turned to either side. therefore turning happens after(!) making contact. as i learnt shoulders have movement, as individually

you will never be able to do this shit in a fight. Stick to the basics because they are all that work. Wrestling, bjj, boxing, thai and that shit. You rarely see wing chun in mma because its not practical and very difficult to reproduce it in a fight. Do some mma sparring and you will find out what works and what doesnt real quick.

@knownpornographer what you perceive as a threat was not in fact. as a third person party here i can assure you that there was none implied. why is it when someone tells them that they could show them and extends ones hand they think its a threat. kinda like putting the tan out there and asking and getting all this crazy energy in return.
