while trying to get video of a wild octopus, it suddenly dashed towards me and rips my shiny new camera from out of my hands, then swims off, all while the camera is recording! he swam away very quickly like a naughty shoplifter. after a 5 minute chase, I placed my speargun underneath him and he quickly and curiously grabbed hold of the gun as well, giving me enough time to reach in and grab the camera from out of his mouth. I didn't feel threatened at all during the whole ordeal. he seemed to be fixated on the shiny metallic blue digital camera. the only confusing behavior was how he dashed off with it like a thief haha. cheeky octopus.

thanks for watching, and remember life is too short to spend it in front of a tv or at the shopping mall......get out there and live it up! these moments of beauty exist every single second in nature.

love,

  • Imagine if you lost the camera and had to tell the insurance company that it was stolen... by an octopus.

  • the octopus had a chat with Ariel the mermaid who told him how awesome human things were so the octopus was just trying the camera out and see what is was like. don't judge it for also wanting to be human like Ariel did. ;) LOL

  • what a great video. bet that was a great experience. how could 276 dislike this???

  • Wow, pretty amazing - I think he/she thought she may be able to get you some good shots. -thank you for sparing it's life! they are beautiful creatures that should be able to roam free in their habitat.

  • Nice song.

  • @2:48 it looks like he's singing along

  • What are you doing?

"Oh nothing, just taking my octopus for a swim."

  • @gloup81 Crazy octopus, she was probably pissed cuz she never got to breed and complete her life cycle and living in captivity and not breeding must've extended her life for so long. Females typically die from exhaustion after all their eggs have hatched. Oddly, much like the spider species, It's having sex that kills them! And although they're not at all related to them, when you think about it from a strictly physical view, their sort of like spiders in a couple ways; spiders of the sea.

  • @tleemo1 dude i let free my bulgaris after 8 years of captivity and she was already 2-3 years old at 75cm ~6kg's , she could lift 20kg with two hands easily and she was getting pissed off when she realized i was tieing the tank lid with rope , let her go not because she was old but because she was trying to unglue the silicone sealing using mussel sels

  • Dude that was badass and it must've been like an adrenaline shot in the neck when he came at you and you had to start wrestling with him, not to mentioning chasing him down and yanking the camera out of his mouth! It must've been an old dying male who had just mated and must've got pissed off when you found him in his deathbed. They only live 3-4 years and die soon after mating, but before they die, they go into a state of dementia and act crazy before they become food for a rival predator.

  • looks a bit like a vagina at the end when your taking it for a ride!
