hey man if you can buy collets for this thing then i highly recommend it milling with a drill chunk works but a collet holds then end mill better and reduces chatter it the machine
@rickybh yea i know what you mean man lol i have the 7x10 mini harbor freight lathe works pretty good..now one question about this mill..how well does it perform can it take good cuts is it strong enough to cut still and how deep of a cut can you take?
@MrDrummer1992 I only use this machine to cut aluminum, brass and engineering plastics. I haven't tried steel or any other material. The backlash is pretty bad and the z-axis is kinda hard to turn. Anyway, I'm planning to convert it into CNC in a few months. I have to learn Mastercam and MACH3 first before I proceed. My CNC conversion kit for my 7x14 lathe is arriving next week and I can start learning how everything works. lol
@rickybh in other words the best thing to buy is a used bridge port mill if i wanna cut that kind of metal.just wondering tho why does everyone turn these mills/lathes into cnc..you get more skill buy makeing the parts manually
@MrDrummer1992 If you can find one then go ahead. The SX3 might be too small for your needs. I like to do everything manually but I cannot meet the demands of my clients and I also have nerve damage on my fingers due to the thousands of repetitions that I do on the lathe. Having it converted into CNC will make things much faster.
@rickybh it might be to small for me but what about the x2 mini mill have you ever used that before and sorry about your fingures man i know how you feel bc i got a disease that makes my nose bleed for nothing bro

@MrDrummer1992 I'm planning to do so. For the past year and a half, I've been glued to my lathe. LOL!
