  • Why aren't the watches being assembled in a Clean Room?

This vid illustrates why more and more new Rolex buyers are complaining on watch forums of finding dust on the inside of the watches, on the dials. Not a big issue for most brands out there. But when you're a company like Rolex, you're held to a higher standard. I have inexpensive automatics that don't suffer from that issue.

  • What an awsome factory. Does anyone who is ugly ever work there. Perfectly directed was this info-mercial.

  • @odatchat Why would you want a decorated movement on a SPORT watch with a SOLID caseback?!

  • Any competent watchsmith worth their price of a Horotec blower can clean dust from the dial. Your complaints are petty.

It means that watches are assembled in a completely sterile room. A controlled room means nothing. Especially when an acquaintance of mine who wanted something to go with his vintage Rolex, walked out of the AD shop after every black dial Submariner he looked at had dust on the inside of the watch. Rolex never made a white dial Sub. But he examined both a black, and white dial Explorer II models. Dust inside the black one. Obviously he couldn't tell with the white.

  • @NGMonocrom Well in the video it says that they are assembled in a controlled room to guarantee the cleanest possible conditions, so what does a "Clean Room" mean?

You make some excellent points. You also highlighted why I'll never buy a modern-day Rolex. Best to go with a vintage model if one really desires a Rolex.

  • @NGMonocrom

I think the demand for rolex is to high since they do so much sponsoring and marketing. Even with a partner company, Carl F. Bucherer helping them produce watches the demand is still too high. This is why the modern rolex doesn't hold its value. Also if you walk into any watch luxury watch dealer just look at how many rolexs they have compared to their other brands. It's usually 2 to 3 times the amount. That has to tell you something.
