Hey guys, do you ever think if China starts a war, would the shoalin monks back them up or stay neutral, and or try to stop china before massacring millions of people with their WMDs?

Yes, absolutely. The Chinese have some excellent skill sets. However, a lot of the training methods are counter productive in the long run. A good warmup, starting with a light jog, followed by soft, gentile, static stretching is much healthier and more efficient way to stretch out, than the bouncing thing.

Yes it will damage your joints & shorten the muscles IF you do it with out proper warm up, or do it beyond your capability. Over doing it may tear your muscle and develop scars. And as we know, scars are less flexible.
And of course, warm up stretching and stretching depends on what you're going to do next. If you're just gonna stretch & eat/sleep afterwards, I suggest NO BOUNCE stretching.
But if you're gonna do high kicks, jump kicks like what we do in wushu, GO and BOUNCE.

bouncing aka ballistic stretching is damaging for the joints as well as possibly shortening the length of the muscle fibres. dynamic stretching is much more effective than bouncing.

Sometimes I want to slap myself. This extent of flexibiliy takes a pretty long time to reach. If you start younger, you can cut down on some of it. I was never exposed to these things or encouraged to do so, and I'm pretty sure at fifteen, I've lost that potential and have to do it the hard way now...

bouncing is for warming up your muscles to tell them that you're gonna use them for a strenous stretching (what you call Hold)
just like:
If I'm going to wake you up do you prefer to be dragged off your bed in a split second or just a tap on your shoulder?
