@PSTRIPPLEE: Don't listen to the person who responded to you who said experience is more important than a degree when it comes to getting a job in computing. Earning a degree in computer science or software engineering is absolutely essential for someone who wants to pursue any professional career in computing.

@PSTRIPPLEE I don't know about "computing". I think what matters more is experience.
For example I'll bet allot of people who have coding jobs now are people who got started in the open source world... They started a open source project and developed and managed it to success. In doing so they gained relevant coding experience, proved their management ability, and got free advertising. Suppose you had KHTML/Webkit as your resume?
Though I'm sure a MS in comp sci couldn't hurt.

@BrendaQG Mmm i see. Basically i want to do computing science and since am sick of studies. i'm just aiming for a degree and maybe in future try go for a master but a P.H.D i am not inrested.... Do you reckon a degree will get you somewhere in life in computing? or am i just wasting my time. and please prove your statement and be honest. don't worry if you're honest i appreciate more so that i can change before it's to late

A PhD is different from other degree's. A PhD is always a research based degree. The coursework varies from place to place from a MS worth of work that takes a couple years to almost nothing. So researching, writing, then defending a thesis project is the real meat of the degree. Being able to do worthy research, and defend it from criticisms is the minimum of what it takes to do research. (So in a sense it's no different than going to devry and working on cars in order to learn)

@acuzobs Whats up with the P.H.D Dense what are there trying to accomplish? once completed your P.H.D why you need to go through a long scenario just to prove your work? what is the whole purpose to this. cant you just get ur P.H.D nd go home with it?
