Fernley NV - After a training exercise on June 7, 2007, the North Lyon County Fire Department was allowed to burn this house to the ground. The structure was donated for training and the burn was done to help the owner clear the land for new construction.
The 52 minute burn was condensed to 5 minutes for this video and includes stills of this amazingly hot fire.
Temps were already at 80 degrees outside with a predicted temp of over 100 degrees that day along with high wind warnings. The fire department was up against time and the elements in completing the exercise along with this control burn.

  • Wow...awesome video! Just a question (sorry it is a dumb one)--how did the firefighters start it?

    ~LauraG.~

  • They stacked a bunch of wood pallets inside then tossed in 3 or 4 flares through the windows from the outside.

  • the roof

    the roof is on fire

  • @TheBum642TV Def not legal!

  • @thedragonsprince The EPA requires the house be prepped before burning it for training. In this video there looks to be a lack thereof. Shingles for one are supposed to be removed. There are strick EPA regulations in place for these burns, however if the EPA doesn't catch a Fire Department in the wrong they have no leg to stand on to say they were in the wrong. Or should I say do something about it!

  • not the best house...but several homeless people would take that and think they won the lottery...

  • thats what happens when you leave pop tarts in the toaster to long kiddies

  • Watching that, I can't help but think that this happens to houses that are lived in, and people lose everything, and sometimes even lives. Very sad. Kudos to all the firefighters out there. You do a good job. Firefighters should get paid way more then lawyers and CEOs who sit in comfy chairs all day, finding insignificant things to complain about.

  • AND WE COMPLAIN ABOUT POLLUTION

  • LOOK AT THE FUCKING SMOKE. LOADS OF IT.

  • i was watching a fire fighter training video ( my uncles fire station) and these fire fighters put starter fules and carasine and gasoline in this house to do a fire training and those 3 egnited soonerthen expected so it blew up the house and those 5 fire fighters flew like 10 feet i was like ...HAHAHAHA

  • Wow! If I was a person going by, it would be strange to see fire fighters sitting watching a house burn down!
