With only three minutes left of extra time and toss of a coin prospect, Uruguay got the winner. Great technical skills by the legendary Luis Cubilla on the goal line, as the opponents wrongly thought the ball was over the live and out of play, allowed the substitute Victor Esparrago to head the ball into the empty net.

It was really a fantastic triumph for Uruguay, a small country of only three million inhabitants, against the political world power Russian Soviets, with the population about 100 times bigger.

In the semifinals, Uruguayan Celeste team gave a real battle to the mighty Brazilians and were in front, as Luis Cubilla found the net. The big country from the north eventually won that difficult semifinal and later the championship.

  • No no :) you did't understand me. It was out side , you can see on this video. And players was stopping play. Because you can see , ball was under line. And it was out side. That. Why they lost. I check video many times and 100% it was outside. Players just stop playing when they saw outside.

  • @LA2007rus Neither the referee nor the linesman signaled offside - the neutral ITV commentator, whom you can hear here, had no remark about that, not even hint that the ball could have been out - Uruguayan players didn't stop or hesitate - it was no slightest reason for Russians to stop playing, as they heard no whistle - it was their own fault and they could not blame anyone else, just themselves. Great trick by Luis Cubilla, also.

  • When 3 million beat 200 million. Uruguay have always been the ultimate underdog country in football history

  • @bolso4 That is why URUGUAY is the most footballing country in the whole world. Uruguay is football - football is Uruguay!!!

  • The ball was inside it doesn't get out off the line .. see it again several times

  • Russia ????? lololololollllllloloololollolololo

in this game play 4 russians,6 ukrainians,2 geogians players

    lolololol

  • @fideoboca

NO SALIO, FALLO EL DEFENSA, SE CONFIO, STALIN LO HUBIERA MANDADO A SIBERIA A ESTE PINTO.

  • Where can I find full match? Please contact me if you know.

  • With a fixed referee and with a heat burning the cold Russians it is easy. I wnated to see this match without Mazurkiewicz, a clean referee and with a balanced weather. Good thing that this shamedly defensive team of Uruguay could not win the World Cup, it would have been absolutely unfair to the fantastic Brazilian team.

  • The ball was on the line, it's a good goal.

  • tenia 11 anios cuando se jugo este mundial es el primero que me acuerdo por haberlo escuchado en la radio despues de este partido salimos todos a la calle los morenos con los tambores la gente se abrazaba una locura !!! gracias por subirlo .

  • the whole ball wasn't over the line so the goal was valid
