Our Swainson's Hawk was found abandoned in the wild. She was raised by surrogate parent Swainson's Hawks at a local rehabilitation center with the hope that she could be released into the wild.
Unfortunately, the rehabilitation center determined that she was already imprinted (dependent on humans) and was therefore non-releasable.
Here you'll see the wildlife keepers giving the hawk a bath. This activity is part of the enrichment that our keepers provide for the animals.
