Footage from the 89th Pike's Peak International Hill Climb on Saturday, June 26h, 2011. This spot is between Ski Area and Glen Cove at 10,900 Feet. This year Monster Tajima broke the 10 minute barrier with a time of 9:51. Also 2011 was the last year for a dirt and tarmac track. In 2012 the entire track will be tarmac. Be sure and check out my videos from fan fest and the decent of the racers and subscribe for more rally videos!!

Overview of Pike's Peak from Pike's Peak official website-

http://www.usacracing.com/ppihc/about/overview

The race is run on a 12.42 mile course with 156 turns that begins at 9,390 feet and finishes at the 14,110 foot summit of America's Mountain; Pikes Peak! As the drivers climb toward the summit, the thin air slows reflexes and saps muscle strength. The thin air also robs engines of 30% of their power at the summit. Competitors and vehicles must be in top shape simply to finish...let alone win!
This year the race has 11 classes and features a variety of automotive, semi truck, exhibition, open wheel, super stock car, pro truck and motorcycle classes with a field approaching 200 competitors.

  • Hey thanks for posting. I was driving sidecar #187 (10:13) and this is the first vid or pic of us in the dirt section. It actually looks faster on camera than it did from in the bike. Cool to see. -Johnny

  • Open wheel driver jimmy keeney #69 (9:56) was the second fastest to glen cove. second only to monster. its a shame his motor let go right as he was coming into glen cove, as you can see from all the smoke. :(

  • haha yo, this is where me and my family spent most of the day, i was the kid wearing the yellow fox shirt that kept moving around to different places and in the black jacket around the 2 minute mark, nice vid
