The highest ranking rescue officer on scene has authority over where all rescue vehicles should be. If there is a danger of vehicles going past you then you should always situate your rescue vehicle between you and traffic. So that your protected from on coming traffic. It is the police officers job to divert traffic and provide protection from any suspected threats.

I can only say one thing. In any emergency situation like this, I strongly believe that fire department should have authority over the police department. This isn't a robbery. The fire chief knows what he's doing, and what sense does it make to pull him away from rescuing the victim.

@ezetaz911 Blocking all lanes of traffic where I live causes more wrecks....IF it is a fatality then yes the traffic must be blocked...didn't sound like it was an emergency to me...but yes the cop was a turd just like all cops. According to this string...all cops are turds

wow..................I am a Captain on a Fire Department and I am glad we have a good reputation with the Police. Which works both ways. I advise my drivers to block ALL lanes of traffic for everyones safety. I shut it down !!! Drivers need to have patience or go another route, there is an emergency and it needs to be handled first.
Cop was an ass, bottom line. Should of never happened.

It would be ironic to see the driver move the firetruck to the side, first one to get ran over by passing vehicles is the cop and first one to save him is the fire captain.
