  • You are correct, the four 7 amp-hour batteries shown in the video do not offer enough capacity to run this inverter for more then a few seconds at full load. I used them because I happen to have an abundance of them on hand and they served my purpose for testing this inverter to sell on eBay.

  • I have a 1200 watts power inverter and i need to buy a battery. how many amps do i need to power a 1200 watts inverter.

  • 5000BTU / hour = 1465 watts. The AC and inverter together might be 75% efficient (best guess) which means it will draw about 1831 watts. 1831 watts from a 12.5v battery will draw 146.5 amps from the battery (W=V*A).

To determine how long your lead acid battery will run a given load, use peukert's equation (google it.) You will need to know the amp hour rating of your battery, the type of battery (to determine the peukert exponent), and the load current.

  • Not much of a test as your battery bank is not larger enough to maximise the use of the unit! It does give some good ideas on how to use the unit and a little bit of the capability of what it can do!
