Wow, I learned a lot of little thing I didn't know during that barrage of facts, haha. Thanks. Most useful to me was the way smoothing groups work when using the edge split modifier.

@ralusek ok. Thanks for the heads up! :) I'm stuck using 2.49b for now because of a project I'm collaborating on. Great work on this crash course. Its one of the most useful tutorials I've seen for a person in my position. (Though I don't really understand the benefit of Retopo) Good work!
I'm trying to go from Maya to Blender, and the biggest thing that has bothered me so far is that 3d cursor. Its such a waste of a mouse button.

@msampson3d no argument there, i totally agree. fortunately with the latest beta build they have ui setting default for maya users under "user preferences." it should make your life a lot more comfortable if that's what you're used to
