[PLEASE READ] Pretty, petite, and perfect. And she sings, too.

Video features generous clips from a few of her more accessible films:
BUCK PRIVATES (1941)
HELLZAPOPPIN' (1941)
CALENDAR GIRL (1947)

This video's showstopper is Jane's performance of the song "I Wish You Were Here" from BUCK PRIVATES. This is one of the most sublime sequences in motion-picture history—especially considering the world-war-era context of the film.

My admiration for Jane is so heartfelt and sincere that I hope to share more of her "lost" work with YouTube audiences someday.

See Jane Frazee's filmography here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0292471/

Jane is "serenaded" in this video by Dick Haymes, who sings "That's For Me."

IMPORTANT: This is a video of goodwill and great admiration. Questions or comments are sincerely welcome—but only if they are nice, clean, and comprehendible. If you are a professional and want credit I've neglected to give OR prefer that I delete this video, please contact me and it will promptly be done.

  • She really was gorgeous, in that girl-next-door way - which, to me anyways, is a lot more alluring than the "va-va-voom" types like Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, etc. And so talented, too. I wish Universal would release their "B" movie catalog - many of those titles featured Jane; also Donald O'Connor and Peggy Ryan.

  • @dumont1957 You are so right on all counts. Thanks for writing!

  • NB1a: I don't remember hearing the name but she looks promising. I thought I had seen Buck Privates; apparently not. I know I haven't seen the other two films. I guess if they have talent like this I better get on the ball and see all three. Good job on the presentation. I’m sure Jane would be agreeable with what you've done so far. I hope to see much more in this series. Not irrelevant, would’ a liked to have seen more facts about her life in the "sidebar".

    Thanks for the post.

  • This is what I call a STAR. The Golden Age of Hollywood will NEVER be duplicated because we no longer have stars or movies like this.
