Over 3,500 years ago, Rome was no more than a soggy marsh and the Acropolis was just an empty rock, but Egypt was on the brink of its greatest age - the New Kingdom. There was an explosion of creativity, wealth and power in Egypt that would make it the envy of the world. After defeating the Hyksos invaders, successive Pharaohs expanded and maintained their Empire through both force and diplomacy. In the process, they won Egypt vast amounts of gold, influence and respect. They included; Ahmose, Hatshepsut, Tuthmosis III, Amenhotep III, Akenhaten, Tutankhamen and Ramesses III. Behind the power of the Egyptian empire lay a vast wealth of natural resources. Chief among these was the river Nile, the freeway of the ancient world, whose floodplains also provided huge expanses of fertile farming ground that kept Egypt self-sufficient and usually famine-free. Along the banks of the Nile, the humble papyrus plant was used to create a bureaucratic efficiency and cultural sophistication previously unknown to mankind

  • @datcrazycygnet

New pictures of Hyksos statues have been found: The Egyptologist François Auguste Ferdinand Mariette (February 11, 1821 – January 19, 1881), had them stashed away in his scrapbook. You will find them very interesting.

We can't post web links, so cut and paste this address, then add the necessary parts like (COM)

  • I THINK HE DESTROYED THE OTHER GODS OF EGYPT AS A PERSONAL PROTEST . AFTER LOOSING FAMILY MEMBERS ,IT MUST HAVE BEEN SO PAINFUL THAT HE BLAMED THE GODS FOR DOING IT. IN RETURN, HE DESTROYED THEIR IMAGES, CARTOUCHES AND TEMPLES. THAT IS IN MY VIEW THE CAUSE OF ALL THE RELIGIOUS DESTRUCTION .

  • Hopefully a series will be done about Akhenaten and his time, I'm sure it would be just as popular as "The Tudors."

  • @CHINEKEDIIGWEADAMMA I agree, I still believe that the Younger Lady Fletcher analyzed is Nefertiti, the mummy has recently been identified as Tut's mom thanks to DNA testing, yet her true identity is still unknown.

  • @ThePharaoh91 King Tut did re-invent Egypt, even though his reign was short. That's ad, he certainly seemed to be a rising star and would've been a greater king than his dad. Check out "King Tut Unwrapped" to learn more.

  • @Afro5amurai Just because some people are well-educated and know that Egypt (unlike Nubia) have nothing to do with Negroes. This is the only reason, and not racism as You probably think.

  • @Afro5amurai becuz its not true?

  • @ThePharaoh91 =yup he was his son conceive from a minor wife who later vanish shortly after his birth...watch Nefertiti resurrected made by archeologist Diane Fletcher that will answer all your question, 'cause this doc is not 100/cent accurate on the Aten family...peace
