  • check out sonny rollins..... piano solo is swing all the way. Get ur facts straight.

  • manny, why dont you go suck a classical musician's dick ? cuz thats what you are

  • Dont get me wrong, thats why I became one to. But yet I like to follow the rules. You dont have to thats what its for. Jazz is made so you can mold it into what you want and dont want and gives you the freedom of constructing scales and all that but for GPS, id rather keep it traditional.

  • Having played GDS myself for the past 20 years on the bandstand in every musical situation you can think of, plus owning and listening to countless recordings of the tune, not to mention transcribing a half dozen versions of GDP, believe me when I say that I'm well aware of its traditional form. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a jazz musician taking certain liberties - including swinging the A section of GDS. Thats why we all became jazz musicians in the first place - for the freedom!

  • The A section is Bossanova. You dont swing there but in the B section you can its a swing section. Ive never heard in all the years ive been lsitening to Jazz a person swing in a bossanova section. go ahead and search anywhere you want. No one will.

  • Are you kidding? By whose standard is it a "no-no" to swing the A sections? Really, tell me, because I'd love to meet the person or entity that has the universal ability to set that type of guideline in stone.

  • Nice playing! Great interpretation of Green Dolphin. Five stars!

  • Groovy is right my man! I loved every note of this!

  • O.k. but for 1 thing. This song is an ABAC song. At the beggining is an A part which Is Bossanova. You were swinging there and that is a BIG no-no in Jazz. The B and C part is swing, so you can swing. Which you did a terrific job on. The C part is Bossanova again and you were swinging it. Not the best I've ever seen but good job!!

  • Very nice feel, harmonic, and melodic playing. Enjoyable listening.
