A Trout Toward Noon

A Trout Toward Noon - the tab is from Mark Hanson's excellent book "Leo Kottke Transcribed". This is ostensibly one of Leo's easier pieces to learn. It consists basically of a series of arpeggios. The difficulties lie mostly in the fact that this requires really accurate picking, and the picking is not your standard alternating bass. The thumb gets a real work-out here and I decided to try a thumb pick. I tried a variety and finally settled on a Zookie M10. This is a medium which fitted snugly with 10 degree of angle to the pick face which suits my thumb position. i.e. if my thumb were angled more steeply towards the bass strings then a larger angle, say 20 degrees, might be called for.
