This is one of several interviews of servicemen in WWII focused in the Pacific Theater included on the Medal of Honor Bonus Disc in the War Chest that included Allied Assault, Spearhead, and Breakthrough. These are my first uploads ever that were uploaded July 4, 2010 to remember the invisible ideals that these men and women fought for and those for whom they speak in the stead of the countless patriots that cannot because they gave the ultimate sacrifice. You don't have to be American, or even her ally to respect the core values they all stood and still stand for; life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, but above all, a hope for a brighter tomorrow, whatever your definition of that is.
Mitch Paige..I never heard of him, but I hope he got the medal of honor for that. What valor and heroism. Its something your not born with, but something that rises to the occasion and at that moment. reveals itself. The alternative is hiding in a hole curled up scared to death. I dont fault either reaction.

@flesch317 Well said. I don't think I'd do well in combat, truly. It's odd you mention the Medal of Honor. Check Wikipedia - a huge chunk of Medal of Honors ever awarded have been awarded posthumously, usually because they jumped on a grenade, but you'll never hear that on the news nowadays. A shame.
