  • Awesome! I'm not sure if I allready commented on this or not, but I love that little jingle at 0:16 !

And you sound so awesome on the radio! Ever consider going back into the radio business?

  • I like that jingle too...they still use the same jingle but with a more modern orchestration.

I really enjoy the business I am in now and will stay there...although sometimes I do miss talking on the air there are so many positive things to what I do now.

  • That was really great :)

  • Thanks spats! This was originally on a reel-to-reel tape and the old commercials at the end were always my favorite part to listen to.

  • npr news , lol, i can get that in long island but insted its broudcasted on an fm signal .why cant they only transmit 500watts in the day and 1000watts at night (i would think the other way around)

  • I'm not sure why the power levels were that way but indeed that was correct! Usually the daytime power is higher or it is the same day and night.

  • One o clock doo doo dooooo do doo!

  • @Chenoholic88 I remember the news show, it was called Newswatch and was staffed by students in the broadcast journalism program. When I was there I think it was at 11:00 PM?? and then moved to the evening.

  • Wow, I remember the old CBS network opening (0:16), and was surprised when they re-did it in 2000 (after merging the Mutual, Westwood and Viacom properties). The one they use now sounds like an orchestra version (similar to Mutual's opening), but uses CBS's tune.

  • man, WCBS has two stations. their current AM station, and an FM station which plays a lot of oldie but goodie music (mostly 70's and 80's). gives you a classic time trip when playing the FM station on vintage equipment. i have my 1978 Supre-Macy Flip-Card clock tuned to that station, so it plays that station when the alarm goes off.

you can look up WCBS FM on their HD radio channel.

  • The WAUB in Athens, Ohio is interesting. It operates in the AM broadcast band at 1340 khz. At sign-on, the announcer states its power as "effective radiated power". AM stations don't have ERP like FM stations do. AM stations authorized power isdefined as actual power into either the tower base or common point.

  • @batterymaker Yes, that is the late Ernie Anderson v/o the Sears radio commercial ad.

  • WBBM Newsradio 78... Newsradio 590 WEEI and WTOP Newsradio 15... all have (or had in WEEI's case) all had essencially the same format in Chicago... Boston and Washington respectively... and for a while had the same sounders for Traffic.. headlines... etc

  • That's the Sportscentral USA theme... I have that saved on a CD somewhere. I also know the unofficial archivist at Newsradio 88... that tends to help. -grins-
