Earlier this fall, Marathon Oil Corporation provided more than $1 million of much-needed supplies to the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (OHSEM) to aid in relief efforts.
More than 350,000 respirator masks, 30 pallets of bottled water and 4,000 meals-ready-to-eat were provided to command centers in three counties north of Houston as firefighters battled the unprecedented blaze that prompted numerous residential evacuations.
"These are supplies we hold in storage for hurricane response and wanted to help our local officials as quickly as we could with their immediate needs," said John Weust, Marathon's emergency preparedness manager.
The supplies were distributed to the County's command centers who, in turn, provided them to area residents and the nearly 700 personnel who were involved in the firefighting effort.
The actual responder scenes were shot on-location by Marathon's own Kevin Bain who serves as a volunteer firefighter when he's not working as a geophysicist for the Company.
