when I first heard them, I thought, "these guys are about as punk as the beach boys!" but then I watched some live videos... and I now hold the strong opinion that they are just as punk as the Sex Pistols.

I gotta call bullshit on that one. I have Johnny Ramones complete concert dates from Jim Bessman's book and the Ramones NEVER played a High School dance. Let alone in 1977, the first year that they stayed almost exclusively on the road. I'm not doubt that you've seen them though, just not in a High School.

SAw these guys at a high school dance back in '77....the records don't do them justice; you would have had to seen them live to really appreciate wot they were all about.

i get chills watching this clip. those guys were just perfect. dee dee and johnny were amazing bookends and joey, with all of his shy idiosyncracies, had such stage presence. i love this song, too.
