This is a Throttle Quadrant from a Tornado Simulator that I bought off Ebay.
I have connected this to FSX via K8055 Velleman interfaces and FSUIPC.
The Throttle control turns a potentiometer but the Flaps uses four Optoschmitt sensors so I have constructed an interface that takes the four outputs and gives a voltage output proportional to the flaps position.
The software I am using to read from the K8055 interfaces is written by me in C and is part of my Radio Management Unit program. More details from my website. www.learjet45chimera.co.uk
As you can see from the video, there is a throttle stop half way into the throttle travel which I have yet to remove.

  • good job sir. did you make the whole stuff ?

  • @anssari1 - No I got the throttle quadrant off ebay. It is from an old Tornado Simulator.

I managed to interface it to FSX via a Velleman K8055 interface board and some software I have written.

For more info search for learjet45chimera with google.

  • why plane not move?

    :)

  • @cjellwood LOL, Hadn't taken the brakes off :)

  • @LJ45Chimera whats that switch you hit at the back before idle?

  • @SteU4IA I am not pressing a switch. For some reason this throttle was designed to lock half way and I am just holding onto the rear of it whilst forcing it past the half way point. I have now removed this half way stop and it is really smooth now :)

  • looks really great. Have you ever thought of building and selling quadrants to the Flight Sim community? I think there is a market for more-realistic throttle/flap controls than currently being offered by companies like Saitek/CH/Thrustmaster and something lower-cost than the upper end stuff from Precision Flight Controls / GoFlight et al.

  • @LJ45Chimera Oh ok, i see. I also like how cjellwood worded his/her question..."why plane not move?" lol too funny.
