Thunder Over Louisville 2009 - HD Fireworks Timelapse

Thunder Over Louisville is the annual kickoff to the Kentucky Derby Festival in Louisville, KY. Billed as one of the largest fireworks shows in the USA, the 30-minute extravaganza is launched from two barges along the Ohio River, with added flare emanating from installations on the Clark Memorial Bridge.

This video is a timelapse presentation of the entire 30-minute fireworks show compressed to six minutes. The video was photographed from the top of the Aegon Center, the tallest building in the state of Kentucky. Camera was a Canon XH-A1. Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro. Music by Bjorn Lynne, licensed from Shockwave Sound.

Impressive to say the least. thanks David. Can you talk about your equipment some?

@reidlowe For the fireworks it was a Canon XH-A1. I don't remember the exact settings...I think I wrote something on it a little further down in the comments.

For the Pine Run footage, it was a Canon 5DMk2 rigged to the top of the car. Nothing fancy on exposure or white balance on this one...just whatever worked for the lighting.

For both of these they are shot in realtime and sped up in post-production using Adobe After Effects. It's much smoother that way.

I went and liked it until I was gong to my car and my mom got hit on the head with a full pop can and had to get taken the the hospital because she was bleeding. =(
