@Chr0maticAttack: MST's lack of diversity is its biggest problem, with a large plurality of students studying similar subjects, and with most of those students being pretty similar ethnically and socioeconomically. It's fine if you just want to get your degree and get out, which is what I did, but I feel like Rolla did more to stunt my growth than it did to encourage it. Stronger liberal arts classes would help, though most engineering majors consider such classes a waste of time, IMHO.

@spodieodie1 I still don't get your negativity. It is a fact that 40% of the current students are studying engineering...that's not a majority. While engineering is the focus, there are plenty of students involved in other majors or pre-degrees. What is well-rounded anyway? Liberal arts education that is full of bias from whatever side? I'm studying Aerospace Engineering...the campus is very close knit with good people that actually want to learn. What is so bad about Rolla?

@Chr0maticAttack On the contrary, I graduated almost five years ago, and thank you for reiterating my point by calling it an "engineering university." I hardly see how that's much different from calling it a technical school, that is, a place where people come to get educated in a trade, comp sci in my case. Well-rounded education? Hardly.

fo sho! probably the worst place i've lived in my entire life. really if it wasn't for my friends i dont know what i'd do.

I've lived in Rolla most of my life and I don't think its fair saying Rolla is in the middle of nowhere because there are plenty of towns nearby and there a lot of outdoor attractions too.

such as rafting, canoeing, and kayaking. there's plenty to do, if you know where to look.

Heh, it kind of is in the middle of nowhere. However, I loved going to school there. That "culinary school" at 6:09 is where I lived for 3 years. Good times.

Worthless hellhole of a university. Might as well call it a four-year technical school. Not to mention the fact that you're in the middle of nowhere.
