My SID version of Lily Allen's "The Fear", complete with tape loader. As much as I hate to admit it, I like this song I figured I'd like it even more as loading music. This ought to teach her not to put out decent stuff...

No real C64s were harmed during the making of this. I cheated and used a number of instances of an emulator to make the tune and the "loader" is composited / faked. In other words, it couldn't be "run" on a real C64. The graphics however, are real and could be displayed on a C64. Nobody ever reads this bit anyway, so queue the comments along the lines of "this int real u r a retard xD" and such [sigh].

  • Did you use Freeload source for this tape loader?

  • Sort of. It's actually Batman which used Freeload, the picture of Lily was just slapped over the top. It's not a real C64 program I'm afraid, there aren't enough sound channels and I'm not clever enough to start multiplexing.

  • Love it mate! - class stuff, great retro tribute and a great SID track.

    Liking the effects achieved by those multiple emu instances - makes me think what could have been achieved with even more channels etc, in the old girl... :) (I know, I have one of those SIS2SID's, for a Prophet'd C64 I bought, but yet to risk installing it! :) )

    Mucho respect!

  • Not a Lily fan, but this is pretty cool. Nice work.

  • if this is a "sid" version, i´d like to have the *sid file to play it on my commodore. (-;

  • I love this. It's so... nostalgic.

  • I need to stand in a lift to listen to this. LOL.

  • Very good! @comankh: I think one of the points is that it's a bit different to every other amateur musician' home hip-hop or trance/dance music efforts! I mean honestly there's more to music than f'cking trance with it's incessant 4/4 kick drum and hip-hop with its overtones of gang warfare!

  • Absolute Genius!

  • haha lovely!

  • this is so cool, c64 lives on. :)

  • SWEET DUDE, LOVE IT
