Best of 2009 - Preserved Railways

This video features what I believe to be the best single shot from each railway I have been to this year, with the exception of the West Somerset which has 2 due to the sheer amount of times I went.

Avon Valley - RSH 7151 climbing to Bitton from Avon Riverside in July.
Dean Forest - 30587 & 9681 heading away from Norchard towards Parkend at their gala in June.
Didcot Railway Centre - 5322 on a TPO demo in August.
GWSR - 92203 on a ballast train at the Cotswold Festival of Steam in May.
Great Central - 42085 on a TPO run at Quorn & Woodhouse at the 'Steam Railway' Gala in October.
KWVR - 90733 departing Keighley at their Summer Steam Gala in June.
Llangollen - 5643 departing Llangollen in August.
PDSR - 5029 'Nunney Castle' over Broadsands Viaduct at their Heritage Gala in May.
Severn Valley - 60163 'Tornado' at Foley Park heading for Kidderminster during Half Term week in October.
South Devon - 6435 departing Buckfastleigh during the SDR40 Gala in April.
West Somerset - 9351 arriving at Stogumber from Bishops Lydeard in August & 4953 'Pitchford Hall' departing Crowcombe Heathfield for Minehead during the Autumn Steam Gala in October.

They don't thrash steam nearly as much today as they did back in the 90s. I remember the NYMR when they always used to slog every engine's guts out on the bank. They don't seem to need to work as hard, now. Nice to see my local line, Llangollen, in there. All that Western stuff and not one Manor. Shame on you ; -)

that is how they should be run just like in the 1930's. if you never thrash a loco you will not find any problems it may have pluss at Didcot they only have a short running line so thrashing a loco is a way for the crew to have a little fun.
