For TNT's newest crime-solving show Perception we revived a sign technology of yesteryear to create an anagram-finding experience on the streets of New York. Made up of over 40,000 physical dots spinning from black to white at 15 times faster than originally designed, the screen not only reflects back a unique image of anyone walking by, but allows you to actually hear those movements thanks to its mechanical nature.

When i read the title i thought it was gonna be somthing done with those little "neocube" neodymium ball magnets; dunno, like perhaps a "waterfall" of those in front of a screen with an array of electromagnets behind and some computer vision algorithm to figure out how to drag the balls that stuck to form images.

Hey this is great. One of my favorite pieces from Tisch ITP, Daniel Rozin, I believe.

In some far away universe, they could have these things as pixels for their "computers".
