Selected music from parts 1 to 3 of this classic 1972 story with those loveable reptillian monsters. The music's infamous for being scored by Malcolm Clarke of the Radiophonic Workshop - thus, it sounds a bit weird compared to your usual Dudley Simpson.

Whether you love it or hate it, it's atmospheric and is certainly quite memorable like the story itself. Part 2 coming soon.

(You also might want to use this in any Sea Devil videos! But please credit me somewhere.)

  • Ok, can someone tell me if there was a Dr Who and the Wobble Forces? lol I remember seeing something when I was young and haven't seen it since. All I remember is these creatures who lived under the sea and had long tentacles. Any ideas anyone?

  • @HEDONlSM Wobble forces... well, the Ice Warriors had sonic guns that made the screen go all wibbly. But you're probably thinking of the monster of 1968's Fury from the Deep, which was covered in foam and tentacles and possessed people using seaweed. The full serial is sadly missing though.

  • @Aquatics64 Thanks! I tried google images there but nothing really rings a bell. I remember this boy and girl going into sea and these creatures lived under the sea in tunnels and had one large eye that looked like a torch beam almost. My sister vaguely remembers it too and we've talked about it but have never been able to find it since we watched it as kids. It was quite scary back then lol

  • @HEDONlSM Oh... there's some underwater sea dwelling creatures with one large eye that looks like a torch in Warriors of the Deep (the Silurians). Though no people going into the sea in that one... Other fishy stories you might want to check might be Terror of the Zygons, The Sea Devils or The Curse of Fenric...

  • @HEDONlSM Saying that, Fury from the Deep did have a cliffhanger of a woman walking into the sea.

  • Theres a new book out on the workshop that tells you all about the Sea devils and other music

  • @skodas Ooh. Quite intruiged by the radiophonic workshop stuff...

  • Malcolm Clarke was my uncle. Very weird knowing this is up on YT, and that he has his own entries on IMDB and Wikipedia.

    Thank you for uploading this.

  • This is probably the best piece of incidental music in Dr Who History. I don't think anyone actually understands how hard it was to create a soundtrack like this on the Synthi 100. You had to fight those damn synthesizers all damn night back then.

You also won't ever hear sounds as inovative as this again, because of the sheer size & quality of the Machine that produced these sounds. Digital is like water, & this Modular/Analog monster Synth is pure 100% Alcohol!

    New series music sucks now.

  • Actually, IMO this is genius music, and adds so much to the mythos of this tale... Hats off to Malcolm Clarke! :-D

  • very scary

  • @therealKINDLE

    Amen brother

  • @felixvelariusbos Oh Really? I suppose that's why James Cameron used a Full Orchestra in Terminator 2 then? Oh Wait.. It was electronic Manipulation.

Ok well how about Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange then? Oh wait, it was Moog Synthesizers layered upon each other. EPIC EPIC EPIC. That's all I ever hear. The crap that Hollywood is Pumping out in Films now may be EPIC, but it has no Character. No Uniqueness. Hardly any Tone or Contrast. It's just epic. And that on it's own is useless.

  • @therealKINDLE I'm sorry, but I completely disagree. Yes, this is quite good, but the full orchestra is nothing short of epic.

And yes, this was posted a year ago. Not caring.
