http://mrinvisible.net - This is an exhibition of some new live glitching and looping styles using Serato Scratch Live. I chose the Jay-Z track because it's popular - it's easy to tell how I'm manipulating the track. All live, all one take, with some Serato screen captures so you can see what's going on." - Marley Carroll

Equipment : Rane TTM56, Serato 1.8.2, Technics 1210M3D turntables

  • @PaulyTheGimp If you think Marley Carroll is not a DJ... you're out of youre fucking mind

  • marley carrol, you look like a nerd but cut like a pro

  • fuck this is dope. as turntablist who also uses a DVS program this is nuts

  • @PaulyTheGimp You sound like someone obsessed with seeming like you know something about DJing, someone obsessed with sticking to old techniques in order to 'prove' how great they are. Turntable manipulation is undoubtably the quintessential skill but in modern times what exactly that means in a world without turntables is becoming slightly clouded. Software and these kind of techniques are the modern revolution, most DJs are overjoyed to see them, I suggest you stop obsessing over the past.

  • @curzmg

For the uninitiated, turntable manipulation is the quintessential skill, don't get it twisted my uneducated brother.

  • @curzmg

Where is the complexity? At what "level" are you talking about? My skill level is irrelevant in regards to this technical fact of what he is doing. I am not belittling anyone, It's the truth. You sound like one of those pc soccer mom types who thinks everyone wins. Everything their little johnny does is great. There is not much going on here, sorry if this ruffles your feathers but it's the truth. Yes, dj'n/turntablism could be described as cutting and pasting, but not with software.

  • @PaulyTheGimp I didn't say it's the most difficult thing in the world but it is difficult to do at this level. He takes what is a simple concept and develops it into something complex and interesting. I really don't want to be a complete dick but you should honestly demonstrate your ability or your understanding before criticising so heavily. You are intentionally belittling what he is doing, you could describe DJing as multiple loops varied in length/time being triggered.

  • @curzmg It's obvious you must be new to dj'ing and serato to make a comment like that. all you have going on here are multiple loops varied in length/time being triggered with minimal fading back and forth and even less turntable interaction. Turntable manipulation, ie. scratching, juggling, etc. is the quintessential skill you must have to be a "real" dj. This guy has some skill, but he is not a "dj". He is more of a producer if you will, like the people who "play" Ableton live.
