Alastair was Pipe Major of the Queen's Own Highlanders when we were in Munster West Germany 1988-1993. He left to become Director of Piping at Carnegie Mellon Uni in Pittsburgh. Son of Norman Gillies and probably the most prolific piper winning more World titles than anyone else in modern times.

Ordinary? Yes, I mean, there are at least three or five people in the world as good as him. Where did you want your "Talking Out My Arse" trophy mailed to?

I was also at Dreghorn and Brig Of Don and can definately say he was Queens Own Highlanders...as was his brother in law Findlay McGhee.
